For all of you Black Keys fans out there wondering where the hell all the other modern blues artists are, look no further than Gary Clark Jr. A man being called the “savior of blues music”, he keeps it gritty and whiney. Even compared to Jimi Hendrix, the following performance clearly proves that there is a respectable amount of talent emanating from this guy as he continuously repeats “you’re gonna know my name by the end of the night”. I’m sure everyone at that show won’t soon be forgetting it…

I returned home from Europe just over a week ago. I was taking classes in Paris and London, then did some solo travel after the fact. So I was in Paris for a month, London for a month, and then traveled through Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Slovenia, and Italy, before finally returning to Paris to fly home. Here are a couple images from the first portion of my trip. To everyone harassing me to see pictures, if you cared to contribute to my film processing fees, it just might speed things up. I’m actually making an honest attempt to listen to all the masses of music that have been sitting waiting patiently for me in my iTunes. With this new/old music, many happy discoveries are being made on a daily basis. A couple of days ago, I uploaded a bunch of stuff I had yet to listen to on my phone and fell in love with Motopony. Here is a Youtube video of them singing my new favourite song “Euphoria”. Oh, it’s in the LAX baggage claim. Awesome.

Why are my LAX experiences never as cool as this? Usually it’s me waiting until the last bag comes out and realizing that I need to go complain to Delta about a lost suitcase…

Turns out San Diego has a new surf shop in town. I’m not entirely sure if it’s a full on surf shop, but are reputed to carry some boards and gear. Check out their website here and blog here. Looks like they’ve got some killer stuff that you won’t find elsewhere. You can find them in North Park at:

I’m not big into short films or overly artistic statements via moving pictures, but this one caught my eye. The backdrop and setting was superb, as was the lighting, wardrobe, makeup and styling. Take a look for yourself, the movie’s only about 3 minutes long. This is where I find my inspiration:

As I’ve mentioned, this blog is going to be a full on transcribed diarrhea of the mind. With that said, a lot of this will be music recommendations since apparently I am always the go to guy for that kind of thing. Here are 2 bands that have been on heavy rotation as of late:
